Surachai PayawangHow does the Thai language manage textual structure without a system of articles, finite verb forms, or conjunctions, whereas in German, these are virtually indispensable? Using a theoretical approach and based on detailed textual analyses, this study describes two functionally equivalent patterns of information structure (covert and overt) that interact in a constitutive way with their respective sentence and text grammar coding systems.
